A bit about me...

I'm a working class writer/director (I guess, filmmaker?) based in Washington, North East England. Home to some of the country's best coastline, worst weather and friendliest people.
A former aspiring actor, I discovered my love for writing in 2018 at the ripe old age of 37 after penning a micro budget short that I subsequently directed and starred in. It wasn't great but hey, it got me on the path and for that, I'm grateful for it.
Since then I've stepped away from acting and have written several features, pilots, limited/web series and shorts. From Action to Dramady to Dark Comedy and Horror.
So if you're looking for a writer for your next project and like what you see, I'd love to connect! But for now, check out what I've got going on in LATEST NEWS, below:

LATEST NEWS

January 2024

As we roll into 2024 (how did this happen! No, seriously WTF), I'm in the middle of writing my seventh feature film screenplay currently titled 'End of the Line', a contained (ish), low (ish) budget, north east set thriller about a cocky police negotiator who is sent in when a late night metro is hijacked by vengeful forces only to realise that he can't allow anyone off the train when the situation threatens to reveal his murky past. It's going well and I hope to have a draft in the can by end of the month.

December 2023 was an exciting month that saw the release of horror short 'Commercium' that I co produced with writer Simon Laurence Doyle, directed, shot, edited, scored (all the things, basically) and released on YouTube through my micro-production company, 9 Lime Films. It's been met with a very positive response from those that have watched it and is awaiting the outcomes of festival submissions. If you want to check it out for yourself, click the link on the film title above.

2024 will hopefully see one, if not both of my currently optioned feature films, 'The Grace' (New Town Entertainment) and 'Syd and the Geordie Men' (Lone Pine Pictures) go into production. A third feature film, 'The Wall' (New Town Entertainment/Digital Fire) is also looking for funding and hopefully there'll be news on that soon. However, short thriller 'Better the Neville you Know' (Lone Pine Pictures), for which I wrote the screenplay, should get a release in the near future and will no doubt be announced on social media when available.

In the TV world, I held meetings with local production company Motif Pictures, at the back end of 2023 about my half hour, police dark comedy series, 'The Long Arm'. The meeting was very positive and hopefully that project will be taken onto their next development slate. Exciting times but as ever, cautious optimism is the name of the game.

And finally, for now, after the relative success of 'Commercium', I plan to make my short horror/drama film 'Perdita', later in the autumn. This time I'll be looking to put a team together rather than the single crew approach. Watch my Twitter (X) for details as they develop.

That's all for now but please do browse the rest of the site to discover my other works. If something piques your interest, I'd love to hear from you.
